Workplace & Modern Workplace

A modern workplace does not come from purchased licenses, but from a clean introduction: Microsoft 365 correctly configured, devices centrally managed, and employees who actually use the tools. sector7 supports the introduction, migration, and hardening of modern workplace environments — from identity through the device to team collaboration. The yardstick here is not the completion of the installation, but the daily work afterward.

Microsoft 365: introduction and secure configuration

At the center is Microsoft 365. We plan the introduction and migration, set up identity and access management with multi-factor authentication, and implement policies for data sharing, device sign-in, and logging — supplemented by a backup concept for your cloud data. The default settings rarely suffice for enterprise requirements; that is why we also check existing environments specifically for configuration and security gaps. Existing Google Workspace environments we continue to support or migrate in an orderly manner.

Devices: lifecycle and central management

Notebooks, desktops, and mobile devices are rolled out, encrypted, kept current, and locked on loss via central endpoint management (UEM) — following zero-trust principles and with a clear separation of private and business data. Existing hardware does not have to be replaced across the board for this: we first check what existing devices and licenses deliver, and renew selectively where age, security, or performance require it. Where central provisioning makes sense, virtual desktops (VDI/DaaS) complement the concept.

Adoption: success is measured by usage

Technology introductions rarely fail on the technology, but on usage. That is why communication, training, and availability after the rollout are a fixed part of our workplace projects: employees are involved early and further supported after the transition. Whether the introduction succeeded we read from actual usage — for example whether documents are edited together instead of mailed back and forth, and whether support requests decline after the ramp-up phase.

Telephony in the modern workplace

Telephony today belongs to the workplace, not in the server room. We operate two paths, both from our own practice: cloud telephony with Placetel including centrally managed Yealink devices — or Teams telephony directly through your Microsoft 365 licenses. For classic PBX systems and contact center solutions, we are happy to recommend specialized partners — our focus is on the telephony that belongs to the modern workplace.

How a workplace project works

At the start is an assessment: existing licenses, devices, identities, and ways of working. From this comes a target picture with a migration plan, split into steps that do not interrupt ongoing operation. The transition is carried out in groups with a supported ramp-up phase; afterward we hand the environment over documented to your internal IT — or continue to operate it as part of our managed services.

Frequently asked questions

Do you support us with the introduction and hardening of Microsoft 365?

Yes. We support introduction, migration, and above all the secure configuration — identity and access management, multi-factor authentication, policies, and backup concepts for cloud data. We also check existing environments for security and configuration gaps, because the default settings rarely suffice for enterprise requirements.

How do you ensure that our employees actually adopt new tools?

Technology rollouts fail through lack of usage, not through the technology. That is why communication, training, and change management are a fixed part of our workplace projects: employees are involved early, trained, and further supported after the rollout. Success is measured by actual usage, not by the completion of the installation.

How secure is working from home and on the road with your approach?

We secure mobile working through zero-trust principles: strong authentication, central endpoint management, encrypted connections, and a clear separation of private and business data. Security is implemented so that it interferes with daily work as little as possible — otherwise it gets bypassed.

Do we have to replace all our hardware for a modern workplace?

No. We first check what existing devices and licenses already deliver, and modernize selectively where age, security, or performance require it. Virtualization and cloud approaches such as VDI or DaaS can even extend the lifespan of existing hardware, because the computing power is provided centrally.
